Liberty4 3.0c Release Notes

(release highlights are in red)

4436 Liberty now supports "Best Offer" listings! Best Offer is available for Fixed Price Only listings, so any items you upload as "Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price)" can now have Best Offer attached to them. In Liberty, the "Best Offer" setting will be on the "Auction Info." tab of any item flagged with an eBay Marketplace. The "Allow Best Offer" check box will be disabled until you select "Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price)." Once enabled, you will be able to enter a "Decline Below" amount. This amount is the minimum offer you are willing to accept. You can also include a "Decline Message" that tells the potential buyer why the offer has been declined. This text is set under Tools > eCommerce Options > eBay Settings > Policies.
5303 Liberty now supports "Second Chance Offer." This is only supported in a *limited capacity though. eBay places many restrictions on how/when a Second Chance Offer can be sent. To keep things simple and easy to use, Second Chance Offer is only available for auctions that have ended, but there is a non-paying bidder. The item can be offered to the next highest bidder, at the bid amount the bidder had placed. Auctions that end without the Reserve being met will not work with this Second Chance offer.
5334 When 3.0a was released, we had a handful of customers report a "slowness" when opening/accessing consignor accounts. Users reported delays from 7 seconds all the way up to 16 seconds. In most cases, the actual computers Liberty was running on weren't that "strong," so it was very easy to relate slowness to lack of resources. When we tested some faster systems though and when we brought the data in-house, we noticed the slow downs as well.

The Development Team has gone through the code with a fine-tooth comb and found there was code in there that was from the Liberty 2002 days. Since this code was no longer in use, it was removed. Since then, the 7-16 second delays have gone down to 1-2 seconds!

If your system is only running 256-512 MB of RAM though, slowness is just the nature of the game. A system running only 256 MB of RAM will struggle just to perform in Windows. Add to that software, data, etc. and the system will come to a crawl.
5340 When 3.0a was released, we included a brand new backup routine. Because the backup routine is now external, if you made a backup while still in Liberty, Liberty would still prompt to make a backup when you close the program. This has been resolved in 3.0c.
5358 Liberty can now be adjusted to use 1, 2 or 3 levels of Categories! Since Liberty 2002, all items entered into Liberty required a Category with 3 levels. For many stores, this is great. For users that came from older Liberty apps and for eBay stores, 3 levels can be too much. This also impacts eBay stores in a bigger way because now your eBay Store Categories can be just single-levels!

To set this up, simply head to Tools > Category Editor. You will see a new "Options" button to the right. Select the number of levels you would like to use in Liberty. You will then need to pick a "Base Level" from which Liberty will pull its single or double levels. For example, if you are an eBay store and you have something such as "eBay" for Level 1, then "eBay" for Level 2 and finally, all of your Level 3s are actual categories, then select eBay > eBay as your "Base Level." Liberty will "hide" those two levels from you and only display that final level in the Category Editor, during Item Entry, in your eBay Store and in your reCommerce site as well.

Here is a before and after comparison...

Before:

After:

As you can see in the "Before" image, the "Children's Apparel/Goods" Category tree has been expanded.  If that's all I sell in my store, I don't need any other Categories.  So, by making Children's Apparel/Goods > Infant/Toddler Clothing my "base" Category, everything that used to be a Level 3 is now my primary Category!

Some of you may need to "tweak" your categories a bit or you may just need to add new categories to your final level. If you were originally doing everything under "Children's Apparel/Accessories," and you want to be a single level store, then you will need to pick the second level that works best for you. For example, you might select Children's Apparel/Accessories > Infant Clothing. Then, everything under Infant Clothing would become your only visible Category. Well, Infant Clothing might not have all you need - i.e., Books, Toys, etc.

A single-level setup isn't for everyone. You might find that a two-level setup works best for your store. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide how detailed of a Category structure you would like.
5380 Mini tags will no longer cut-off information on the far, right-hand side of the tags. This was only happening on the LP2824 printer though, LP2844s were printing just fine.
5389 We have added a new "Support Menu" under Help > Support. This allows our Support Technicians (and users) to have easier and quicker access to system resources. It is difficult to get at-a-glance info or a "snap shot" of an entire system. Things such as the version of Windows, total amount of RAM, database size, etc., can all impact the end-user in a positive or negative manner. When we receive a call saying "things are slow" or "it's taking a long time to do so and so," we need to check a lot of things. Instead of having to go to 5+ different places, we (and you) can now get an immediate snap-shot of your system. Knowing how many Processes are currently running + the amount of RAM you have + the size of your database, can help isolate problem-spots on your system.

This new Support Menu also allows our users to install/launch our Remote Assistance program. We have had this program on our Web site for download since March of 2007, but it had to be downloaded separately. Now, our users can simply install/launch this program directly from Liberty.

We have also added a "Backup to FTP" option. This is something that will allow stores to send their data directly to us for troubleshooting, etc. It is "keyed" and cannot be accessed without a unique key which is generated by Resaleworld. This is not intended to be an "off-site" backup solution.
5394 For Fixed Price listings that are being pushed to your reCommerce site as well as eBay, your shoppers can now buy the item directly from your reCommerce site! This is only available for Fixed Price items and happens automatically when you upload items. Regular auctions or auctions with "Buy It Now" enabled will still link through to eBay for bidding/purchasing.
5399 Liberty has had a very nifty feature for a long time - "Filter List." This allows users to show only certain items within a consignor's account and even print that shortened list out. Some users access this "Filter List" feature directly on the Inventory tab itself. This is also available via the "Task" menu.

Well, when under the Task > Filter List menu, it used to show all options for filtering - i.e., both Statuses and Dispositions. If you look on the Inventory tab, there are actually two views - the "Inventory Detail" (showing Statuses such as Available, Unavailable and Needs Info) and the "Disposition Detail" (showing specifics such as Sold, Expired, Donated, etc.) If you happened to be on the "Inventory Detail" view (which most people use) and you went to File > Filter List, you could select options that were not specific to your "view." Thus, if you chose "Sold," nothing would happen.

To prevent users from having to first click "Disposition Detail" before heading to Task > Filter List, we broke-out that menu into both choices. Now, you can filter on any "side" of an item without having to switch views!
5413 Resolved an issue with the Automated Synch. Once it did the "Daily Synch" (uploading items, updating eBay categories, uploading client data, et al), the internal timer was never being reset. Thus, a "Daily Synch" would never happen. The only way the timer was being reset was if the RWX Helper Service was restarted or if the computer was rebooted. Since most people reboot often, this was not an issue for many people. If you're running a Server 2003 box though, it is never rebooted (or not as often as other versions of Windows need). Thus, that internal timer was never being reset. For those users who are manually synching, this was also never an issue since that was triggering the correct "Daily Synch" pattern.
5415 We have added probably one of the coolest features ever! In 3.0c, you can now take photos from the Liberty application itself!!! Forget having to take pictures, transfer them to your hard drive, find them in Liberty, etc. Instead, simply click the new "Take Photo" button on the Photos tab for your eCommerce items. A new screen pops-up and attempts to locate your Canon digital camera. Currently, on a select list of Canon digital cameras work with this interface. You will find a list below of all Canon cameras currently supported.

You can zoom in, enable/disable your flash and adjust the size of the image you want your camera to capture. One of the coolest parts of all of this - you can attach more than one camera at the same time! For those of you selling clothing, you could have your mannequin with 4 different cameras around it. When you click "Capture" within Liberty, it will fire off all of your cameras for you! Once you click "Ok," the pictures will automatically be attached to your item! How amazing is that! If your employees aren't too "savvy" or are new/volunteers, they don't have to learn about a whole new technology. They simply click one button within Liberty and poof!, you have images on your items!

If you are going to use this feature, we recommend setting the "Remove Selected Images from Source Directory" to "Yes." This way, after each item, Liberty will erase the images from your camera. If you leave this set to "No," each time you load the "Take Photos" screen, you will see your previously captured images. This could be confusing to some.

5417 Resaleworld has a new Single Tag!!! For years, many have been using the standard "Dual Tag" format. While these tags are the industry standard, one can end up "wasting" tags. Since the tags print out two at a time, if you print an odd amount of tags, that last tag is blank and thus, "wasted." Well, we've listened to the feedback and have release our new Single Tag!!! These tags can be purchased in our online store =>

http://www.resaleworld.com/store/product.php?productid=56&cat=23&page=1

In conjunction with these new tags, comes a new Tag Style within Liberty. There are now 5 new Tag Styles for the LP2844 as well as the LP2824 thermal printers. These include:

- Single Tag (More Desc.) = This Tag Style prints at least 3 lines of your Description
- Single Tag (More Atts.) = This Tag Style prints more Attributes and less Description
- Single Tag (Fewer Atts.) = This Tag Style prints a few Attributes and more of your Description
- Single Tag (Markdowns) = This Tag Style prints your Price Code Markdowns
- Single Tag (Auction) = = This Tag Style prints auction drop-off information (Section, Title, etc.)
